Hey – finally getting back to my window frame – this time I removed the wood edging around the glass – so cute & it was relatively easy! – I eased the tool at certain parts between the edge & the frame & gently moved the tool to separate the 2 pieces & it came away a little at a time – here are some pics:

So now just a little more paint to remove & then sand it down nice and gentle like Ralph & Audrey told me – & THEN onto glazing!!
