Just seeing what creations I can come up with

Dish / Hand Towel Apron

So a couple of weeks ago I bought a BUNCH of dish towels at Sur la Table at a great price & knew I wanted to do something different with them – make an apron … yea, I always have these great ideas & then don’t know how to follow through … thank goodness for the internet!!

I searched for towel apron & found these great instructions from “A little of this— a little of that” How CUTE are those that she created?? CUTE!!!!

So I headed over to Hancock Fabrics & bought a crap load of cute cute cute cute fabrics (too cute!!) (& why the heck is it when I get these GREAT ideas, they end up costing me a little more $$ than I anticipated? & why can’t I just try ONE out … see I had like 4 types/colors of these towels, so of course I had to get material for ALL OF THEM!)

So here is the apron with the ruffle on:

So far so good…close up

that really didn’t take too long . . . it seemed … what really seemed to take long was the apron tie … I saw she had angled edges & wanted that I had to think hard about how to go about doing that … finally figured it out . . . somewhat (the seamstress I am not)

Here’s the edge:

So… finally put it all together & voila …:

Voila – a nice quick weekend project … it'll be faster next time . . . 🙂

The things I liked about this project was it was relatively quick – you don’t have to be precise – just have a basic understanding of sewing (Oh!! Wash all material before proceeding …) I think I was supposed to use all 4 pieces of the 1 yard piece of material for the apron bow because my tie ended up being shorter – but it still tied! just not as fancy as hers … of if you have a pattern for the tie – before sewing the pieces together make sure they match up somewhat … I did not do the Ric Rac cuz I thought it was busy enough – hers is just the perfect touch!

So thanks a million Sarah for the great tutorial!!
